What Is Base Material?
Base material is the compacted layer of crushed stone, recycled product like road material or crusher run installed beneath pavers, concrete, asphalt, or other finished surfaces. Its primary purpose is to create a stable foundation that supports the weight above while allowing for proper drainage. Most base materials, except for crushed stone, need to be compacted every 2" of thickness. Either by hand or with a gas compactor (preferred) this process guarantees that the base is not going to settle. If you are trying to create a permeable base, meaning allowing water to drain back into the earth, then you would be using a crushed stone option. Permeable bases are usually installed in three different sizes to allow the water to purify as it filters through the stones. If permeability is not mandatory then our other materials being compacted will create a non pourous base and more of a solid base.
Without a solid base, even the most beautiful patio or driveway can develop problems over time.

First you can see in the material if there is anything organic like wood or twigs. Even though we have tailing products on our base material page these products are by products fro screening that are used for rough areas and not for base material for a patio, walkway, driveway or footings for walls.
